"My creations are forms that do not exist in any other form."
It is not a flat world, to me. I start with both a flat drawing and a flat sheet of metal (copper, bronze, silver). Once my idea takes its first form it is scribed & pierced on to the flat surface and then my world starts to be transformed from flat to dimensional (did I mention dementia?-) So flatness is my starting point to then erect my world of forms.
The emptiness left surrounding the sculpture plays an equal part & importance in the reading and perception of what configures the sculpture creation as a whole. The main drive in my search to uncover new grounds which is this vision of positive and negative, is able to continuously surprise me with the infinite possibilities that can be.
Reading between the "lines" then evokes this infinity of perceptions and angles that suddenly generates the attraction with the subject.
By the way, there is no torch involved and the piece is one from beginning to end - no waste.
