She began working as a photographer in earnest in 1990, working in Paris at Elle Studios alongside such greats as photographer Jean Louis Sieff and Patrick Demarchelier, who mentored and inspired her to shoot in black-and-white opening up a whole new level for her work. In 1996, De Ponte moved to New York to continue her career in commercial and high fashion editorial. De Ponte traveled between Maui, New York and Europe for many years, during which time her work was published in over 200 fashion editorials and campaigns.

In 1998, she left commercial assignments in order to fulfill a deeper dream: utilizing her talents to a higher purpose. De Ponte founded GLOBAL ART IN ACTION to heighten awareness of critical global issues. Her first project was released in 2000--"GAIA I: Journey Into Vanishing Worlds--a fine art photography book consisting of 244 toned images shot in eight bio-diverse hotspots in danger of irreversible destruction. Proceeds from the book were donated to Conservation International’s Campaign To Save The Hotspots to support efforts educating indigenous peoples about sustainable development and birth control. She is presently in pre-production of her first feature film, "Keys 2 the Kingdom," which is slated to begin production in 2010.
